- In 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear plant exploded releasing clouds of radioactive fallout into the atmosphere. Newly declassified evidence from KGB archives reveals their concerns about the safety of the plant even as it was being built. The files show how KGB spies cautioned that Chernobyl was a disaster waiting to happen, but were ignored by Soviet leaders who didn't heed the warnings.
