- Chad O'Connell admitted to the fatal stabbing of Jerry Alvarez English during a 1997 street fight in Vacaville, California. O'Connell was let off on probation. David Moreno and Justin Pacheco were charged with murder under an obscure law known as the provocative act rule. More than two years later, amid charges that their arrest was racially motivated, the teenagers were tried and found innocent.
