Summary:

"Premièred in 1824, Beethoven's 9th symphony is regarded as perhaps the greatest symphony ever written. Trailblazing in its scale, it brings together orchestral, choral and solo forces. Qwest TV brings to you this tumultuous 9th Symphony as you will never hear it or see it again! In this particularly poignant production we see the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande setting foot back in their concert hall, for the first time, following the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. Filmed from the stunning Victoria Hall, Geneva this performance sees the wind, brass, cellos and basses on stage, violins in place of the public, and horns in balconies. Scattered across the venue, the ORS lose none of their dynamism and force. Centre stage is Jonathan Nott, the orchestra's musical and artistic director, relishes being surrounded by his players offering us an exhilarating interpretation of this chef d'oeuvre.
