Summary:

"Once upon a time there was a man, the sea, the wrath of a god and ten long years of wandering far from his native land. Once upon a time there was Homer's Odyssey, a tale that has passed through the ages and survived all sorts of interpretations. The choreographer Hervé Koubi tells his version here, indulging himself in the company of singer Natacha Atlas and multi-instrumentalist Samy Bishai to sublimate his narration. The story opens in a dreamlike setting. Suspended veils fall onto the stage and propel us into a space that evokes nothing concrete. It is in this place that the dancer-griots move. The bodies contract and untie themselves as the events unfold; the slow gestures suspend time and keep us in apnea, while the frantic, scattered, unleashed movements carry us away in the whirlwind of their choreography. The voice of Atlas, majestic and omniscient, punctually interrupts the narrative. Its didascalic song guides the dancers and weighs, peremptorily, on their sometimes languid, sometimes tonic limbs. The Deus Ex Machina Samy Bishai does not spare them either. When he starts playing the violin, the bodies come alive with new energy, as transcended by these sharp notes which cut through the air. All of them - dancers, singers, musicians - keep us in a constant oscillation, between fear of calm and apprehension of tumult.
