Summary:
- "Ursus Minor has always given great concerts at Sons d'Hiver, and this one confirms it. Formed in 2003 during the Parisian festival, the group then presented all its new projects there, with numerous changes in personnel. In 2012, founders Tony Hymas (keyboards) and François Corneloup (baritone saxophone) were joined by drummer Stokley Williams and long-time Prince collaborator - guitarist Mike Scott. Evolving in the libertarian margins of jazz and funk, Ursus Minor paid tribute to Howard Zinn, an activist and historian whose great work was A People's History of the United States. Engagement is also in the band's genes. From the beginning, it has supported guest rappers' virulent lyrics; in this case, Desdamona, Carnage the Executioner, La Rumeur, and Boots Riley. The concert features an appearance by Mahmoud El Kati, Stokley Williams' father and civil rights activist. It is punctuated with standards (""Strange Fruit."" ""Driva Man,"" ""We Shall Overcome"") and ends with ""Billie Jean,"" sung by Ada Dyer. The concert lasts well over two hours without losing any musical or emotional intensity. **Eric Delhaye**".
