Summary:

Imagine an atrocity so shocking that the aghast official who stood against it most bravely was an avowed Nazi wearing a swastika arm band. It is difficult to decide what was most shocking about the rape of Nanking - the atrocity itself or the baffling veil drawn over it in the 60 years since its anniversary in December of 1997.
