Issued in 2 portfolios. The plates are mounted and inlaid in heavy paper mats on which a small identification label is mounted.
The text consists of: (1) a list of the plates arranged alphabetically by the names of printing places represented; (2) an introduction to early printing in Italy; (3) a technical description of the specimens (notes of the printers, character of the types, etc.).
"This English edition appeared in one issue of 100 copies numbered by hand, the sale of which has been entrusted to Messrs. E. Weyhe of New York. The original material for the plates was selected and arranged by Conrad Fink of Munich. The printing was done by Messrs. Knorr & Hirth, G.m.b.H., the binding by Messrs. E.A. Enders A.G., both of Munich (Germany)"--Colophon.
