- Summary:
- Richard Rodgers had acknowledged his fondness for Jerome Kern's shows, and his first Broadway success is noticeably influenced by Kern's elegant way with a worthy melody. The musical was written with lyricist Lorenz Hart and book by writer Herbert Fields and opened on September 1925. It is a romantic score by the man who, twenty years later, would write Carousel.
