- Summary:
- A lawyer who has perfected the guillotine tries to sell it to Pancho Villa, the famous insurgent general of the Mexican revolution. Pancho Villa not only likes it but, as a joke, pays the lawyer in a surprising manner: he forces him to enlist in his army of insurgents. In the book, the lawyer tells us of his experiences with Villa's troops and about how he becomes involved in the logic of this absurd world that is both heroic and cruel at the same time.
