Summary:
- Dialogue is an award-winning weekly radio program that explores the world of ideas through weekly, half-hour conversations with renowned public figures, scholars, journalists, and authors.
There is a debate underway within the African-American Community about the appropriateness of the expression "post-black". First used by young artists, post-black is seen as an indicator of the variety of experiences that influence one's work beyond ethnic identity. Like the pre-eminent role African-Americans played in the million-person marches of the 1990's, this debate suggests a group and a society wrestling with more complex understandings of it.
The administration of John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson covered one of the most fateful periods of the 20th century. Abroad, the pressures of the Cold War were mounting. At home an epochal battle over civil rights was taking shape. Both administrations were remarkable for the talent and energy of the people who staffed them.
