Summary:
- Dialogue is an award-winning weekly radio program that explores the world of ideas through weekly, half-hour conversations with renowned public figures, scholars, journalists, and authors.
When the Tuskegee Airmen took to the skies in World War II their weapons were aimed at two enemies: foreign fascism and domestic bigotry. The famed all-black army air force unit compiled a stellar record in combat and also avanced the cause of racial equality at home. Today, serving vetererans continue to emphasize the themes of courage, confidence and preparation that led to their remarkable accomplishements.
Slavery was the dominant economic engine of early America. It was present in every region and by the mid 19th century exceeded every other "product" in its monetary value to the society. Given that slavery in America lasted from 1619 to 1865 and was a direct contraditction of professed national values it is clearly the central narrative of American history.
