(Copy 1) Bound in full red leather with blind-stamped rule borders. Spine divided into 6 compartments by raised bands with blind-stamped rules on either side. One compartment with gilt title.
(Copy 2) Bound in publisher's brown cloth.
(Copy 3) Bound in full green leather with gilt rules and gilt spine decorations and title. All edges gilt.
(Copy 1) With armorial bookplate inside front cover of "Syston Park"; and monogram label on ffep: "JHT".
(Copy 1) The Syston Park Library was begun by Sir John Thorold (Sr., 1734-1815), and expanded by his son, Sir John Hayford Thorold. The library included many important incunabula, fine editions, and rare works. The family was related to the Lady Godiva of legend.
