- Summary:
- Rigoletto is the deformed court jester who works for the licentious Duke of Mantua. Rigoletto has a beautiful daughter named Gilda. Gilda falls in love with the Duke when he poses as a penniless student. Courtiers later abduct Gilda and take her to the Duke; Rigoletto vows revenge and hires and assassin to kill the Duke. Instead, Gilda sacrifices herself for her lover and dies in her father's arms.
